Associates in the Northern Virginia office can choose between two billable hour tracks – 1800 and 1950 – allowing for greater individual flexibility. For more than 40 years, Hogan & Hartson has institutionalized programs to provide its lawyers with opportunities to take breaks from their practices, including the Sabbatical Program, alternate career tracks and part-time options. In addition, the Northern Virginia office has emergency off-site child care services for its lawyers and staff.
Significant changes in 2007: In 2007, the mergers and acquisitions practice worked on more than 16 transactions with a total value exceeding $4.9 billion. In addition to continued work on IP litigation, IP transactions and licensing and outsourcing; the Northern Virginia IP team has experienced significant growth in the areas of new media transactions and life sciences transactions and related intellectual property issues. In addition to continued work on nationwide healthcare class action litigation, the Northern Virginia litigation team obtained significant victories in major shareholder derivative litigation, significant contract disputes and appeals before the D.C. Circuit and Virginia Supreme Court, as well as winning a high-profile jury verdict on behalf of a pro bono client victimized in a pre-foreclosure scam.
