Thomas S. Shadrick, a retired chief judge from the Virginia Beach Circuit Court, has joined The McCammon Group. Before serving 18 years on the bench, Shadrick concentrated his law practice in personal injury and general commercial matters. He is a past president of the Virginia Beach Bar Association and former director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampton Roads.

Brian R. Charville has been named a partner at the Danville law firm of Daniel, Medley & Kirby. Charville earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University in 2001 and his law degree from Wake Forest University in 2005. He is a board member of Goodwill Industries of Danville, Downtown Danville Association, Brosville Volunteer Fire Department and the Danville Public Schools Foundation.

Kristof G. Koletar has been promoted to operations manager and director of systems development at Trust Builders Law Group, Joseph T. Buxton III, PC, a firm with offices in Urbanna and Yorktown. Koletar earned his undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University in New Jersey and his law degree from the College of William & Mary.

Jackson Lewis LLP has hired two attorneys as of counsel for its Richmond office.

Laura Effel represents management nationwide in employment and whistleblower litigation, arbitrations and administrative proceedings. She is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Maryland law school.

Joseph D. McCluskey concentrates in labor and employment law, and counsels employers concerning personnel policies, compliance with equal employment, disability, medical leave, wage and hour laws and labor issues. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Richmond.

Two attorneys have joined the law firm of Sands Anderson Marks & Miller.

Stephen A. Marshall has joined the workers’ compensation practice group in the Richmond office. Marshall focuses his practice on defense of workers’ compensation claims and on workers’ compensation issues. He also has experience in representing claimants. He was previously with Kalbaugh, Pfund & Messersmith in their litigation practice.

Marshall earned his undergraduate degree at the College of William and Mary and his M. S. at Virginia Commonwealth University. He earned his law degree from The Catholic University of America. Marshall has served as a Director of the Fairfax Bar Association Young Lawyers section.

Heather Austin Jones has joined the firm’s D.C. regional office. Jones will be a member of both the business & professional litigation and healthcare practice groups. Her practice focuses on commercial and tort litigation, professional liability including health care and lawyer malpractice defense, product liability and insurance coverage issues. Jones previously worked for the Federal Judicial Center, where she developed and produced video and live training broadcasts for the Federal Judicial Television Network.

Jones holds an undergraduate degree from James Madison University and a law degree from the George Mason University.

Martin C. Boyle has joined the Richmond office of McGuireWoods LLP as an associate in the firm’s product and consumer litigation department.

He has experience defending Fortune 500 equipment manufacturers in toxic tort litigation in Virginia. He has represented companies in litigation involving complex commercial matters, public construction contracts, corporate insurance coverage, real estate transactions and creditors’ rights.

Boyle was previously an associate with Spotts Fain PC in Richmond. He received his law and undergraduate degrees from Washington and Lee University.

Raymond L. Britt has been pro-moted to principal of the law firm of Hubbard, Terry & Kopcsak in Irvington. The firm will now known as Hubbard, Terry & Britt PC.

Britt has been of counsel to the firm since 2002, and concentrates his practice in the areas of taxation, corporate law and trust and estates. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his law degree from the University of Western Ontario and his master’s of law in taxation from the College of William & Mary.

In addition, Michael L. Donner Sr. and William B. Hubbard have joined the firm as associates.

Donner earned his undergraduate degree from the United States Naval Academy in 1983 and served in the Navy until 1993. He earned his law degree from George Mason University and previously worked as an attorney with the law firm of Weinberg and Stein in Norfolk.

Hubbard earned his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech and his law degree from the College of William & Mary.

Diane Abato has become the new assistant commonwealth’s attorney in Caroline County. She was previously a deputy prosecutor in Richmond, and is currently in private practice with the firm Abato and Davis. Her practice focuses on criminal defense, domestic relations and personal injury.

Abato is a graduate of James Madison University and the College of William & Mary law school.

Robert C. Lunger has joined the Staunton office of Wharton, Aldhizer & Weaver. He resigned in April as the Waynesboro city attorney. Lunger will practice in the areas of civil litigation, construction law, employment law and domestic relations.
