Attorneys from around the state are offering free legal assistance to victims of tornadoes that caused extensive damage in Southeast and Central Virginia on April 28.
Persons who suffered damage from the tornadoes can reach a volunteer attorney by calling the Virginia State Bar’s Virginia Lawyer Referral Service on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The attorneys will provide advice about insurance issues, landlord-tenant problems, home repair contracts, home solicitation, lost legal documents and other legal problems resulting from the tornadoes.
This public service project is a part of the joint Emergency Legal Response Plan offered by the Virginia State Bar Young Lawyers Conference and The Virginia Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division.
