Contractor’s mistake makes historic home more authentic

NEWPORT NEWS—Kimberly McKnight didn’t want new gutters on her home, but she got a free set.
And the new ones are going to be historically accurate, all because of a contractor’s mistake.
Workers for Josh Powers Seamless Gutters mistakenly removed the gutters on McKnight’s Hilton Village home two weeks ago. To correct their error, they immediately installed new ones identical to the ones they removed.
But once the old ones were down, the Hilton Village Architectural Review Board required they be replaced with historically accurate gutters.
Josh Powers plans to install the new gutters at no charge.
