GMU, IP firm to sponsor symposium on patent law

The George Mason University law school and the intellectual property firm of Banner & Witcoff Ltd. will present their seventh annual symposium on hot topics in patent law at the FDIC Virginia Square Seidman Center in Arlington on July 21.
Speakers include Senior Judge S. Jay Plager of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Federal Trade Commission Chairman William Kovacic and U.S. District Judges T.S. Ellis III and Leonie M. Brinkema from Alexandria.
Among the topics will be “Balancing Patent Policy and Competition Policy,” proposed patent reform legislation, a review of recent patent court cases, and conflicts of interest in patent litigation.
